Weed Science Invitational Golf Tournament

The WSIGT is held annually at the Prairie View Golf Course (at least as long as PVGC will continue to have us). We welcome all interested parties to join us, our only qualifications are: 1) you must have some interest in weed science (or at least know someone who does), 2) you must be able to leave your work at the office and be able to relax and enjoy yourself for a day on the golf course, 3) you must not bring high expectations for prizes (the entry fee covers the cost of green fees, meal and refreshments - not prizes).  Proceeds from the tournament are used to support the ISU weeds team which competes in the North Central Weed Science Society Collegiate Weed Science Contest

The 2002 WSIGT was held on August 5 at with 41 golfers participating.  In 2001 we battled the heat and humidity, whereas in 2002 the obstacle was lots of casual water created by over three inches of rain that fell 12 hours before the tee off.  Mike Gaul, director of Ag Career Placement, ran away from the field with a fine score of 71.  Ron Deiter finished second in the Championship flight.  Pat Ellingson successfully defended her title in the Women's division, with Joyce Hornstein placing second.  Winner of the B Flight was Bill Renner.  The 2003 WSIGT will be held on August 18.

the director was going up for tenure that year.
